My approach

Instead of pathologising my clients, I adopt a different approach, working collaboratively with individuals to understand the significance of their distressing symptoms. I perceive emotions, even the painful ones, as signals and messages that can guide us towards personal growth and transformation. By embracing these uncomfortable feelings, we open ourselves up to positive experiences of self-discovery and development.

My therapeutic approach combines verbal exploration with creative and expressive techniques, such as “action methods” and somatic signals. I draw from various modalities, however, my primary focus lies in the power of spontaneity and creativity found in Psychodrama psychotherapy and the effectiveness of Somatic Experiencing in trauma treatment in combination with the clinical application of the Bionic Sound Healing. Within a safe therapeutic space, I provide support and guidance as you gain insights into your challenges, work through them, and heal at your own pace.

Psychodrama psychotherapy

Psychodrama, much like other therapeutic approaches such as Gestalt, Schema, and Internal Family Systems Therapy, harnesses the potency of experiential work. Unlike therapies centred solely on talking, psychodrama offers a more immediate and direct path to transformation. It invites us to engage with our emotions, our bodies, and our relationships in a way that transcends mere conversation, allowing us to tap into the deepest parts of ourselves and create lasting change.

It is a therapeutic approach conceived and developed by the visionary Jacob L. Moreno, is a profound method that combines both group and individual therapy. It invites us to step into action, delving into the depths of our being to explore how we can cultivate new ways of thinking and behaving, ultimately transforming the way we approach familiar situations.

This dynamic and creative approach to therapy beautifully aligns with the groundbreaking discoveries of contemporary neuroscience and interpersonal neurobiology. These scientific findings reveal how our experiences have the power to reshape our brains and nervous systems. Psychodrama serves as a bridge, connecting our minds and bodies, our thoughts and emotions, allowing the natural spontaneity of life to emerge and flourish once again.

Esteemed psychiatrist, bestselling author, and trauma expert, Bessel Van Der Kolk, has ardently championed the use of psychodrama in healing early attachment injuries. Through the transformative power of psychodramatic methods, individuals can engage in corrective emotional experiences that lay down new memories of safety, belonging, and being cherished.

Whether our focus is on exploring past traumas, navigating present challenges, or envisioning a future filled with growth and resilience, psychodrama facilitates change by externalising our internal worlds and relationships. By bringing these inner landscapes into three-dimensional space, we activate our innate somatic intelligence through action and role-play, igniting a profound healing process.

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing is a pioneering body oriented approach to relieving the physical, psychological, emotional and physiological effects of acute and chronic stress and PTSD.

Somatic Experiencing, a groundbreaking approach to trauma resolution and healing developed by Dr. Peter Levine, offers a short-term and naturalistic pathway to recovery. This transformative method harnesses the power of body awareness, allowing individuals to “renegotiate” and heal their traumas without reliving them. By accessing their innate capacity for resilience, Somatic Experiencing enables individuals to safely and gradually release the highly aroused survival energies trapped within them. As a result, a remarkable reduction or even disappearance of traumatic symptoms is often experienced.

The very essence of trauma, with its manifestations of hyper-arousal, dissociation, and freezing, can be traced back to the primal instincts of predator and prey. The symptoms of trauma arise from the incomplete biological response to a threat, frozen in time. By thawing and completing this frozen response, trauma can be truly healed.

It is important to note that traumatic symptoms do not stem solely from the traumatic event itself. Rather, they persist when the residual energy from the event remains trapped within the body. This trapped energy wreaks havoc on both our physical and mental well-being. In contrast, wild animals possess the innate ability to “shake off” this excess energy. For humans, the key to dispelling traumatic symptoms lies in mirroring the natural instincts of these animals. Dr. Levine has ingeniously developed a safe and gradual approach that empowers trauma survivors to tap into their own natural capacity to resolve the overwhelming energy caused by traumatic events.

Biosonic Sound Healing

To enhance the psychological and physiological processes of psychotherapeutic healing, I incorporate the clinical application of Biosonic Sound Healing. This unique method intensifies your journey of progression and healing. Personally, I have experienced the powerful impact of vibrational application in my own healing from a chronic disease. Based on my personal experience, I truly understand the tremendous support that this unique approach can offer you on your path of growth and healing.

So, what exactly is Biosonic Sound Healing?

Just as a piano can be tuned to achieve optimal balance, your body can also be tuned. By using two BioSonic tuning forks, your body’s biochemistry is instantly altered, bringing your nervous system, muscle tone, and organs into harmonic balance. Within seconds, your body enters a deep state of relaxation, allowing your mind to find peace. You will experience states of deep relaxation, reduced stress, increased blood flow, enhanced immune response, full integration of body and mind, and the ability to transcend to higher levels of consciousness.

Vibration, sound, and consciousness are fundamental aspects of the universe that shape the nature of existence and the structure of everything that exists.

In my practice, I utilise the BioSonic tuning forks designed by Dr. John Beaulieu. These tuning forks are based on mathematical models of the human body and its sonic intervals.

Dr. John Beaulieu explains: “Listening to Biosonic tuning forks creates an instant state of mental and physical coherence that that can be scientifically measured through the release of constitutional nitric oxide and related biochemical markers that are fundamental to health and well-being.”

By incorporating Biosonic Sound Healing into your journey, we can create a powerful synergy between your mind, body, and spirit, facilitating profound healing and transformation.

Ethics and Good Practice

In my psychotherapy practice, the utmost priority is the emotional and physical safety of my clients. I adhere to the rigorous ethical frameworks established by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Psychodrama Association (BPA). These standards serve as the foundation for establishing the boundaries necessary for a secure therapeutic environment, benefiting both the therapist and the client. To ensure clarity and commitment, a therapeutic contract is established, outlining the shared goals that the client and therapist will work towards. This contract also addresses essential aspects such as timekeeping, financial arrangements, and confidentiality. By establishing these parameters, a protected space is created wherein you can feel empowered, fully comprehend the objectives, and be aware of the limitations in place.
